Refik Halit Karay’ın ‘İstanbul’un bir yüzü’ romanında yapı

Abstract

Edebiyatımızda asıl şöhretini hikâye yazarak kazanan Refik Halit Karay, Türkçeyi eserlerinde oldukça sağlam bir şekilde kullanır. Refik Halit Karay’ın, 1920 yılında ‘İstanbul’un İç Yüzü’ adıyla yayınlanan romanı, 1939’da ‘İstanbul’un Bir Yüzü’ ismiyle yayımlanır. ‘İstanbul’un Bir Yüzü’ romanında dış yapı unsurları; “eserin kimliği ve isimden içeriğe” adlı iki ana unsurdan meydana gelir. Romanın iç yapı unsurları eserin dramatik ve entrik kurgusunu şekillendiren ana unsurlardır. İç yapı unsurları; “bakış açısı, olay örgüsü, mekân, zaman, kişiler dünyası” adlı ana unsurdan meydana gelir. İstanbul’un Bir Yüzü’ romanı, kahraman bakış açısıyla kurgulanır. Kahraman anlatıcı İsmet, sınırlı görüş açısıyla kendi hayat döngüsünü anlatır. ‘İstanbul’un Bir Yüzü’ roman, günlük tarzında yazılmış bir eserdir. Romanın iç yapı unsuru olan olay örgüsü helozonik yapıdadır. Romanda olayların İsmet’in anı defterinden okuyucuya aktarılması, anlatma zamanı ile olay zamanı arasındaki mesafeyi gösterir. İstanbul’un Bir Yüzü’ romanı, akronik bir zaman kurgusuna sahiptir. Romanda iç yapı unsuru olan çevresel mekânlar yüzeysel verilir Algısal mekânlar ise romanda kişilerin kimliklerinin yansıdığı yerlerdir.

Refik Halit Karay, whose chief fame rests on his stories, uses Turkish language quite effectively in his literary works. His novel formerly named as “Inner Face of Istanbul an published in 1920 was reissued under the name of “One Face of Istanbul” in 1939. The exterior elements of the novel “One Face of Istanbul” consists of two main constituents being the identity of the work and associations between the title an the content. Interior elements are “point of view, plot, space, time and world of people” shaping the dramatic and intriguing fiction of the work. The novel “One Face of Istanbul” has been fictionalized through hero point of view. The hero narrator, Ismet, narrates his own life cycle from his restricted point of view. The novel is written in the form of a diary. Plot which is among the interior elements of the novel is of spiralstructure. That the events in the novel are narrated through Ismet’s diary indicates the distance between the narration time and event time. The novel “One Face of Istanbul” has an achronic time frame. The environmentalpaces are presented superficially, and the perceived spaces are the places where the personality of the characters is reflected.
